Search for resident birds as well as those passing through on migration along trails and old carraige roads in Letchworth State Park. Use ears and eyes to locate as many species as possible. Join Master Fisherman George Dovolas at Silver Lake State Park Boat Launch at 9:00 am on Saturday, May 6 to learn all about catching fish at the lake. Bring your own tackle if you have it. George will discuss gear, lures, and technique. The boat launch is off West Lake Road. (3 hours)

Follow the border of Letchworth State Park cross-country off trail with a naturalist guide. Expect mud, steep hills, stream crossings, prickers and poison ivy. See parts of the park that few have visited. Meet at the junction of Pennycook Road and State Route 436 (1/4 mile east of Parade Grounds Entrance)at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 11. Bring lunch and water. Will car pool. (4 hours, 2 miles)

Supporters of The Genesee Naturalist and park volunteers are invited to join for a luncheon at the Glen Iris on Saturday, May 13. We will pay our own way and order from the menue. Lunch will be from 11:30 until about 1:00. We will meet at 1:30 to car pool and take short walks to visit special park places. Make reservations to Doug Bassett at 585-493-3625 by Monday, May 8.

Celebrate the 183rd birthday of William Pryor Letchworth with children from area schools. a 1/2 mile loop featuring 10 stations, each with a 15 minute presentation on some aspect of Letchworth's life or interests including a chance to meet Mr. Letchworth and his loyal secretary, Caroline Bishop will be followed by birthday cake!
