Every year, bird watchers search for and count as many birds of as many species as possible in measured areas all over the country. If you can identify birds and are familiar with Letchworth State Park and the surrounding countryside and villages, call 585-493-3625 to speak to a naturalist (Doug Bassett)prior to the 15th and learn how you can take part. We all meet at 5:00 pm at the park visitor center to share food and findings. All day event, on your own or in small independent groups, car touring and on foot.

Meet at the Parade Grounds Parking area off Route 436 at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 22, 2007. Dress for the weather and bring lunsh and beverage. Deer trails only. Expect brush and steep terrain. We will car pool. (3 hours, 2 miles)

Offered every Saturday and Sunday between December 29, 2007 and February 17, 2008 if snow conditions allow,at 1:00 pm in Letchworth State Park based at Trailside Lodge, south from the Castile Entrance. This program provides a brief instruction in cross country ski technique and a chance to practice on gently rolling trails with a naturalist guide. Must bring own skis. 1 hour, 1 mile.

Offered each Saturday between December 29, 2007 and February 16, 2008 at Trailside Lodge in Letchworth State Park at 2:30 pm is snow conditions allow, this program provides brief instruction and a chance to practice cross country ski technique while exploring the park ski trails with a guide. Participants must bring their own ski gear. Trailside Lodge is south from the Castile Entrance and offers a variety of winter activities. 1 1/2 hours, 1 1/2 miles.
