A short, suitable for younger children nature walk held each Sunday, December 30, 2007 through February 17, 2008 at 2:30 pm based at Trailside Lodge in Letchworth State Park. Trailside Lodge is south from the Castile Entrance to the park and is the focus of winter activities. including cross country ski programs and tubing on a supervised hill. A large heated Lodge with a fireplace provides a spot to warm up.

This program provides a brief instruction in cross country ski technique and a chance to practice on gently rolling trails with a naturalist guide. Must bring own skis. 1 hour, 1 mile.

Venture into the winter river valley in Letchworth State Park on a mostly off-trail adventurous hike with an expert naturalist guide. Meet at the Perry Entrance Gate at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 21, 2008. Bring water and lunch and dress for the weather. If snow is more than 6 inches deep, snowshoes may be useful. Will car pool. 4 1/2 hours, 3 1/2 miles.

Meet at the Silver Lake Marina on West Lake Road, Silver Springs, NY, at noon on Saturday, February 23, 2008 to learn all about ice fishing. Learn how to be safe, keep warm and catch big fish!

Visit the site of an abandoned railroad and canal and see the Upper and Middle Falls of the Genesee in Letchworth State Park from the wilder east side. An expert naturalist will explain the history and nature of the area as you hike. Meet at the Entrance to the Parade Grounds on Route 436 1 mile east of Portageville towards Nunda at 10:00 am on Sunday, February 24, 2008. Bring water and lunch and dress for the weather.
