Portage Canyon Trek

Visit the site of an abandoned railroad and canal and see the Upper and Middle Falls of the Genesee in Letchworth State Park from the wilder east side. An expert naturalist will explain the history and nature of the area as you hike. Meet at the Entrance to the Parade Grounds on Route 436 1 mile east of Portageville towards Nunda at 10:00 am on Sunday, February 24, 2008. Bring water and lunch and dress for the weather. If snow is more than 6 inches deep, snowshoes may be useful. Will car pool. 3 1/2 hours, 2 1/2 miles.
