I attended the Native American Celebration in Sept.2007. I am painting a scene from one of the dances as well as a small watercolor of rose hips found at Letchworth.
Wolf Creek Valley Trek
Visit the Wolf Creek Valley in Letchworth State Park in the less familiar conditions of winter with an expert naturalist / guide. Meet at the Castile Entrance to the park at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 3, 2008. Bring water and a lunch and dress for the weather. If snow is more than 6 inches deep, snowshoes may be useful. Will car pool. 2 1/2 hours, 1 1/2 miles.
Family Nature Walk - Denton Brook
Visit the site of the homestead of the Denton Family, neighbors of Mister Letchworth. Meet at the Castile Entrance to Letchworth State Park at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 29, 2007. 2 hours, 1 mile.
Family Nature Walk - Three Sisters Waterfalls
Visit three tributary waterfalls that drop to the Genesee River inside Letchworth State Park. Meet at the Castile Entrance Gate at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 5, 2008. 2 hours, 1 mile.
Degayasoh Valley Trek
Visit " the Valley of the Nameless Spirits" in Letchworth State Park. Meet 300 year old trees and learn their stories from, an expert naturalist. Meet at Trailside Lodge at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 10, 2008. Bring water and a lunch and dress for the weather, Be ready for steep slopes. 3 1/2 hours, 2 1/2 miles.
INDOOR ED-VENTURE - Galls and Gall Makers
Learn about the secret lives that go on inside swellings on plants. Many examples of galls and their makers will be available for study at the Letchworth State Park Visitor Center at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2008. There will also be an expert naturalist on hand to help reveal the stories. 2 hours.
Family Nature Walk - Letchworth Arboretum
Visit the Garden of Trees planted in Letchworth State Park and learn the history of its creation from an expert guide. Meet at 10:00 am at the Park Visitor Center on Saturday, January 19. 2008. 2 hours, 1 mile.
Bear Hollow Trail Trek
Explore the wild east side of Letchworth State Park with an expert naturalist / guide. Meet at the Bear Hollow Trailhead on River Road (out of Mt. Morris towards Nunda, 1/2 mile south of junction with Ridge Road.)at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 17, 2008. Bring water and a lunch and be ready for steep up and downhill climbs. If snow is more than 6 inches deep, snowshoes may be useful. 4 hours, 3 miles.
Lee's Landing Trek
Visit the Genesee River in winter in Letchworth State Park. Meet at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Park Visitor center. Bring water and a lunch and dress for the weather. Expect steep down and uphill climbs. If snow cover is more than 6 inches, snowshoes may be useful. 4 1/2 hours, 3 1/2 miles.
Full Moon Nature Ski Hike
Cross country ski by the light of the full moon in Letchworth State Park. Meet at Trailside Lodge at 6:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2008. Bring a flashlight and ski equipment. Program will be offered in two parts, with a warm up period in the lodge in between. 2 hours, 2 miles.
